Hiya,

1. Generally system fonts will flow through to your menu, some themes however have specific settings in the theme files for the menu fonts. You'd have to have a look at the theme files and suss out what it's being set to.

2. The icon theme I was using was Gnome Colours Icon set and the Shiki Colours theme. Since then they've been updated though so you may be hard pressed to find the actual version with that Icon in it.

HI!
No comments really re this page but I was looking at your gallery and 2 related questions:
1. how does one change the font prefs for that custom start menu?
the desktop font prefs have no affect on this applet
2. what is that icon you're using for the start menu? (i.e. 4 square colors)
THANKS

Wow, Nice write up Thanks!

I've the exact same setup at home, but instead im using a 8800GTX as the GFX hardware.

Im going to try these steps and follow your advice.

I'll let you know exactly how I've got on, I may also need to pick you're brains if i come into issues. If that is ok of course?

Regards
Dan.

SFTP can refer to two things:

Secure FTP

SSH File Transfer Protocol

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_File_Transfer_Protocol

Yes it can be done, quite easily. The above little howto refers to how to mount file systems permenantly over SSH. Which, in my opinion is much easier to setup than tunneling FTP over SSH. SSHFS uses SCP or SSH File Transfer and runs on port 22 just like SSH.

Look into how to set up SSH with RSA keys, then you need only setup SSHFS as above to mount file systems on clients.

A more indepth article for Ubuntu can be found here:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SSHFS

Though this will work on any Linux system. ;)

Hi ,

I'm a beginner..so pardon me if I sound idiotic. This SSH can be can be used for FTP, right ? Like, I want to set up a secure channel by implementing RSA public-private keys for FTP (or rather SFTP) to my office intranet. Can it be done ?

Thanks,
- Ankan

After some testing I've decided to finally migrate to Virtual Box.

VMware is running like crap in Jaunty, maybe due to the fact my virtual machines reside on an encrypted /home/ (this was my first thought) but after testing VBox and the fact even the VMware BIOS was laggy I'm thinking it has something to do with the Intrepid patch or new libraries in Jaunty. Either way I've been meaning to ween myself off of VMware for a while and now is a good a time as any.

Virtual Box is superior in almost every way and heck there is even an open source version.

Don't know why I didn't do this sooner.
